Ed3 Weekly Issue #166: The ABCs of Agents
How do we understand the implications of agentic AI in schools, use the ABCs!
Hello blockchain enthusiasts and technology futurists!
I’m gonna be honest. I’ve struggled with the AI hype machine flying around my social media feeds this past month. It’s tough to put my finger on it, but something feels off.
In my naʻau I feel like we are missing the narrative thread here. The technology moved so fast and was implemented so quickly that we didn’t have time to catch our breath.
We went from no AI/chatbots/LLMs in our school to having them so easily accessible that we felt like we had to do something, or we were letting our students down.
I get it. This comes from a place of care and love. No educator wants to see their students be left behind or feel like they are not providing the best possible learning opportunities.
But along the way, I feel like we’ve made ourselves vulnerable to predatory AI consultants who want to sell their goods to us for profit.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the post-COVID shift out of the classroom by teachers into the edtech corporate machine fast-tracked this arrangement. Go to any education conference in the last two years, and you will be sold an abundance of tools that will “help you save time,” “personalize learning,” or whatever other promise is being concocted by the marketing teams.
To make sense of some of these ideas, I put together a short 'ABCs of Agentic AI,' which I share in this week's deep dive.
As usual, I have my regular assortment of blockchain and crypto-related education news for you to check out. Enjoy!

The Future of Work with AI Agents — Insights from a Stanford Study
This article discusses a new Stanford University study that introduces the Human Agency Scale (HAS), a five-level framework designed to measure how much human involvement workers prefer in tasks impacted by AI. The research reveals a gap between what workers want and what technology enables, often favoring more human input than automation might suggest. As educators, we need to be mindful of this broader shift in workplace value from technical proficiency to interpersonal and creative strengths.
