Ed3 Weekly Issue #157: Bottleneck or Transformation?
Does the digital revolution demand a retreat to the past or an invitation to transcendence
Hello blockchain enthusiasts!
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the technological transformations we’re living through. There’s an ongoing debate: are we standing at the edge of a new era of opportunity—or are we hitting a wall that threatens progress?
Personally, I lean toward the former.
That perspective contrasts with the argument laid out in this week’s deep dive, “An Age of Extinction Is Coming. Here’s How to Survive.” In this piece, the author warns that everything we value is at risk of disappearing—unless deliberately preserved. And honestly? I don’t entirely disagree, but I don’t see that as a problem.
Why cling to traditions that no longer serve an emerging future?
That’s part of what draws me to blockchain. It invites us to reimagine the systems that shape our lives—finance, education, governance—on foundations built for a more open, decentralized, and equitable world.
So check out this week’s deep dive and ask yourself: is this a bottleneck moment—or the beginning of a transformation?

An Age of Extinction Is Coming. Here’s How to Survive
🔗 This article presents a powerful metaphor in which the digital age is a bottleneck where distraction, institutional erosion, and social fragmentation threaten the human-scale traditions. The author presents a viewpoint advocating for a return to older forms of religion, art, and cultural practice. This is an interesting space to explore in this age of blockchain and digital transformation.
Let’s consider a path that leans into the possibilities of emergence that creates new ways of living, relating, and learning grounded in curiosity and designed for a changing world. Technologies like blockchain are digital tools that represent a fundamental shift in how we think about trust, ownership, and identity. If guided intentionally, they can help us transcend the limits of legacy systems and build decentralized, human-centered structures that carry us through the bottleneck and into a more resilient, equitable future.
