Ed3 Weekly Issue #135: Fear Not
It is time to move from fear of crypto to embracing it as a transformative technology
Hello Ed3 frens,
Scrolling through social media recently, I’ve stumbled upon a few statements that left me wondering, “What’s the disconnect here?”
For instance, some claim that decentralization is inherently contrary to human nature, or that crypto is nothing more than a cesspool. One stand-out example comes from Rep. Sean Casten of Illinois, who bluntly stated, “It scares the dickens out of me.”
A huge part of what I want to do with this newsletter is to educate others on the concepts and ideas behind crypto, blockchain, and decentralized finance.
Having spent years engaging in this space, I wholeheartedly believe that this technology is the next frontier in rethinking our systems of education.
I hope that increasing education and understanding of crypto and blockchain will get people to stop thinking of it as a cesspool, or that it is against human nature, and to stop being scared of it!
There are so many other benefits to learning about crypto beyond its disruptive potential.
It is a great avenue for young people to build their financial, media, and information literacies. Here is how:
📈 Financial Literacy
Understanding digital assets and blockchain transactions.
Developing budgeting, investing, and risk assessment skills.
🔍 Media Literacy
Navigating bias in crypto-related information and news.
Assessing trends to differentiate credible innovations from speculative hype.
🔐 Information Literacy
Exploring data transparency and decentralized trustless systems.
Building privacy awareness and protecting personal information.
Come join the learning adventure and check out the resources of the week. We cover how you can educate yourself about blockchain, puppies inspiring people to learn about crypto, and another major web3 education investment.
To help tie it all together I have a great deep dive this week on how education is the key to broader crypto adoption.
