Ed3 Weekly Issue #134: Learn, Learn, Learn
Learning opportunities abound as demands for blockchain and crypto education increases
Hello Ed3 frens,
Last week I shared about the influence of the crypto industry on the outcome of the 2024 election. This week has proved that the outcome would significantly translate to crypto markets.
I wrote about this in more detail in a piece published over the weekend on Medium titled “Cryptocurrency and the 2024 Election.”
Here are some stats from that piece:
📈 Stand With Crypto identified 247 pro-crypto candidates elected to the House of Representatives and in the Senate, 15 pro-crypto candidates secured seats
📈 Bitcoin up 13% since the election
📈 Ethereum up 30% since the election
📈 Coinbase up 45%
📈 30% increase in daily trading volumes on major crypto exchanges, such as Binance, Coinbase, and Kraken since the election
I know it’s just one week, but my instincts want to tell me that the bull case for crypto and blockchain has been confirmed.
So what next?
It’s time to learn my friends.
I continually make the case in this newsletter why I think educators need to educate themselves on crypto and blockchain. And I’ll make the case again.
It comes down to having an understanding of transformative technology so you can best do your job to guide young people as they transition into the future.
More specifically:
Students to be literate in digital assets, decentralized systems, and the shift from centralized to decentralized control
Skills like smart contract development, decentralized finance (DeFi), and digital asset management, are already in high demand
Teaching students about decentralized finance (DeFi) can offer a more comprehensive view of global economics
So this week I wanted to share some resources about how people are learning about crypto and blockchain across the globe.
Read about new initiatives that are advancing blockchain education: NASDAQ Business School brings blockchain into finance studies, UCLA educates students on tokenized securities, and the Polkadot Blockchain Academy accelerates Web3 education for future innovators.
For our deep dive, we explore how this learning can come together to empower our future creators.
It’s an exciting time my friends and I am even more excited to have you along for the ride. See the links and summaries of the resources below!

The Future of Creativity: How AI and Blockchain Will Empower Creators Everywhere
This article explores how blockchain can enable direct, meaningful fan engagement and empower fair monetization for all creators. I am particularly excited about this topic for two reasons. First, as a creator myself, the idea of having meaningful fan engagement with my audience as well as fair monetization addresses two of the main concerns that I have with the creative industry. Secondly, as an educator, it inspires me to continue to guide students toward the creative industries knowing that systems are being built to fairly reward them for their skills.
Coinbase is positioning itself to be a leader in the crypto and blockchain space. Their Base wallet and emphasis on developer-led innovations make me think that they will be at the forefront of blockchain innovation in this next cycle. This article provides further details about how they envision using AI to partner with blockchain to enhance this implementation. I highly suggest you take a read to learn more about what they are cooking up. Read
